About SOUTHERN OCEAN DIVERS SOCIAL CLUB INC.

The Southern Ocean Divers Social Club ( also known as SODS) was formed in 1992 and incorporated in 1994, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary 2003.

The club membership averaging 40-50 members (including families) is almost wholly from the local community, and they gained their qualifications and training from local Dive retail outlets.

The Dive Club meets once a month , where these meetings are both social as well as having a formal content. Guest speakers are generally from the marine environment industry, either informing and educating or running training programs for the members.

In this way the club members are kept abreast of new materials and equipment available for safe diving, and are able to maintain and further enhance their knowledge and skills. The Noarlunga Reef was a training site for most of the club members to gain their Open Water Certificate, being close at hand it is no wonder that it became a favorite site for the dive club. Southern Ocean Divers have been associated with the Reef Watch program for many years, so it is quite understandable that the club in 2003 nominated the Noarlunga Reef as its "Home" reef to survey.
